Consent & Leadership Series
#: 7
Consent Advocate Training

C&L: Consent Advocate Training
  • Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 - 10:30am-1:30pm (Pacific Time)

A Consent Advocate is a person who steps in and supports someone involved in a consent incident. They’re rarely professionals, just people with training who can offer practiced support when things go wrong. It’s not an easy role, but it makes a huge difference in how an organization or group gets through a consent incident. Having a consent advocate, ideally two, on hand will reduce the overall stress, speed healing, and improve outcomes.

This workshop covers the basics of what it means to be a Consent Advocate: what is, how you do it, why it’s worth doing, and the difficulties that come along with it. We will practice the skills of bystander intervention and emotional/psychological first aid. Both things you’ll need to provide support for people who have experienced harm.
  • 3 Hour Online Zoom Class with Q&A throughout. Handouts sent by PDF.
  • To take this class, you need to have taken the “Consent & Leadership: Building a Framework” class, have taken a Consent for Leadership class (2020 or earlier), or get permission from the Consent Academy.
  • This workshop is part of the Consent & Leadership Series: comprehensive topics leaders in the modern world need to know to both understand and manage consent.
